Couples Counseling
Your Journey to Relationship Wellness
Sharing your life with someone can be challenging. Whether you have been together for years or are newly starting out, everyone can benefit from accessing help to navigate issues that are affecting your bond. When facilitating couples counseling sessions, I focus on four main components, which are: trust building, communication skills, boundary work, and intimacy. I have found that these components tend to be the top issues needing improvement. Once these issues are addressed and worked through, couples tend to see long term changes in their relationships and increased levels of individual and collective happiness.
I have seen relationships from all angles, and work to create safe, non-judgemental space for you both to air your frustrations and needs. You can expect when working with me, for me to ask the tough questions so that you can feel change happening after each session and don’t spend endless time and money trying to move forward. I will utilize what I consider two of my most important therapeutic tools, humor and boundary setting, to make navigating these difficult conversations a slightly more enjoyable experience. Your journey to a stronger and more intimate partnership begins here.
Currently only seeing clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts

Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I accept BCBS. If you do have a different insurance don’t hesitate to reach out as we can go over your options.
What if you do not accept my insurance?
You can refer to the out of network rates and explore how to submit sessions to your insurance, explained below.
Can I use out-of-network benefits?
In some cases you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at the time of the appointment. I can provide a super bill each month that you will submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. For more information check out this post.
What if I can’t afford your rate? Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my schedule. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Can you work with clients anywhere in the country?
As a therapist I only provide services in the state(s) I am licensed. I am licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. You must live in one of these states in order for us to work together.
What if I’m not sure we’re a good fit?
Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 15 minute intro call with all potential new clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other.
Here’s what you can expect:
-I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy
-I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist
-You can ask me any questions that you have or about things I didn’t cover
-We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.
So we’re a good fit. What next?
If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use every week. All forms need to be completed before your first session.
What’s the first therapy session like?
As a Therapist, I have a collaborative, non-judgmental, and relatable approach that will make getting started a bit easier. During our first session or two, I'll ask you a bunch of questions to get a better picture of your life journey. We will come up with goals together of what you hope to accomplish in therapy and I will reflect any patterns I am able to identify early on.
During sessions you'll have an opportunity to vent, gain perspective and new insights, learn to challenge your thoughts, receive feedback, and develop and practice new coping skills. Sometimes therapy can be tough work, and sometimes it is fun and full of laughter. Either way, I am here to support you and will help you achieve the change and growth you are looking for.
How often will we meet?
I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I ask that all new clients commit to meeting weekly, for at-least the first 6 weeks. This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away. I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
My approach is solutions focused. This means you won’t have to be in therapy forever. Many of my clients find that they’ve met their goals in 3-6 months and no longer need therapy.
I also have clients who choose to remain in therapy for much longer; they have seen improvements and still really enjoy having ongoing support and a place to process their thoughts and feelings each week. This is a collaborative decision and we will check in frequently about your progress and needs.
